The Titanic sank near Newfoundland, in the Atlantic ocean. In 1985, the wreckage of the Titanic was discovered, approximately 2.5 miles below the ocean’s surface.

When it sank, the Titanic was on its fourth day of a journey that began in Southampton, England and was to have concluded in New York City, in America.

The Titanic had completed stops in France and Ireland before it struck by an iceberg at around 11:30 p.m. on April 14, 1912. The Titanic sank approximately three hours later, at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912.
